A survey of 1,200 U.S. workers found that 40% have used passwords from a former employer, often because the credentials were never changed after they left. Many admitted doing so to save money or help others, and 27% have shared their current employer’s passwords with outsiders. Experts warn that failing to revoke access during offboarding leaves companies vulnerable to data theft, sabotage, and other security risks.
